Band Bio
Paul Pederson: (Drums / Vocals)

I was drawn to music at a very young age. My mother sang non-professionally for years, performing at weddings, funerals, civic events, and in the church choir for well over fifty years. My grandfather was in the glee club in high school and was a member of the US Army choir. Plus, I was exposed to a very broad range of music having three older brothers that listened to everything from The Beach Boys to Willie Nelson to Black Sabbath. For whatever reason, I was always drawn to the drums and voice, of course.

Growing up, there was a wide variety of music playing in our house from my mom singing her gospel stuff to my dad’s Ray Price 8-tracks to my older brothers Black Sabbath, Steppenwolf, and Grand Funk Railroad. And of course, as I came into my own, I listened to a lot of other artists as well such as Boston, Pat Travers, Kansas, April Wine, REO Speedwagon, Rush, Triumph, Styx, & Judas Priest. As far as my instrument, I really admire and am inspired by, to name a few, Don Brewer of Grand Funk, Tommy Aldrige of Whitesnake, Bill Ward of Sabbath, Ian Pace of Deep Purple, Ed Shaugnessy formerly of the Tonight Show, and Neil Peart of Rush.

For voice, although a fan of many, I am truly inspired by my mom. It comes from her. As a kid, like most drummers, I beat on whatever was in front of me at the time. Actually, I did not get my first real drum set until I was seventeen. I am basically self taught and would always try and surround myself with better musicians soaking up everything I could. I always wanted to play with the best and having gotten a late start that made me the underdog as I had to work hard and struggle to prove my worth taking a lot of criticism along the way. To this day, I suppose I still have that mentality whereas I always strive to do better and push myself to the next level although I do not know where that level is but I want to get there! In my first ever band, I never intended to sing and play but that just happened out of necessity as nobody else at the time wanted to try so I just started doing it and singing and playing became second nature to me. Over the years with Sidewinder, playing with Dave and now again with Rey is so much fun and aside from the three of us being good friends, there is a chemistry between us that just clicks.

For me, it is all about having fun and enjoying the ride and for those that want to come along, well hop on and let’s relish the moment! It is truly a passion as I love to create and play music and I thank God every day for allowing me to do so.
